Shopify Now Accepts USDC at Checkout
Shopify Payments now lets buyers pay in USDC at checkout across 480 supported wallets, with no FX fees and no customer gas fees. Stablecoin payments just reached one of the largest merchant bases in the world.
Stablecoins are moving into mainstream retail. Shopify now accepts USDC at checkout through Shopify Payments, putting stablecoin settlement in front of one of the largest merchant bases in the world. With native support across 480 crypto wallets, buyers can pay in digital dollars with no foreign exchange fees and no gas fees on the customer side.
How it works
- Wallet coverage. Buyers pay in USDC using any of the 480 crypto wallets Shopify supports.
- Networks. Payments run on Base, with support across Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, and Arbitrum.
- Payouts. Merchants can receive settlement in their local currency or in USDC.
- Incentives. Customers earn USDC cashback on Base, up to 100 per order, and merchants receive credits on USDC transactions.
Where it is available
The rollout covers the US (excluding New York and Texas), Mexico, Europe, and Hong Kong. In Asia-Pacific it is available only via Shopify Payments Hong Kong. Notably, Mexico is the only Latin American market on the list at launch.
The detail merchants will notice
USDC orders cannot be disputed, which means no chargebacks on stablecoin payments. For merchants used to card fraud and chargeback costs, that is a meaningful shift in economics and risk.
The trade-offs
Stablecoin checkout is not a drop-in replacement for every card flow yet. At launch, USDC payments do not support:
- Subscriptions paid in USDC
- Partial captures
- Post-purchase upsells
Why it matters
Card networks spent decades building acceptance. A single toggle inside Shopify Payments just extended stablecoin acceptance to a vast base of merchants overnight. It is one of the clearest signals yet that stablecoin payments are crossing from crypto-native niches into everyday commerce.
